- The amount to be awarded to each scholar by way of the loan scholarship is determined by the norms, laid down for the purpose and does not cover the full cost of studies.
- The amount ranges between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 4,00,000. All applicants do not necessarily qualify for the maximum amount.
- All Indian nationals
- All age groups, upto the age of 45 years
- Scholars pursuing higher education in all areas and fields of study
- Scholars pursuing higher studies irrespective of course duration, the selected course being either a short term training program, or a full-fledged Master's or Doctoral program
- Graduates of a recognized Indian University,with a good academic record.
- Students in the final year of the degree course and those awaiting final year results.
- Academicians and other mid-career professionals upto the age of 45 years, with experience in their field who wish to go abroad for further specialization.
- Short listed candidates are required to come for a personal interview conducted by subject experts in Mumbai during March - June.
- The personal interview is mandatory.

When to apply:
- Candidates applying for the scholarship should have applied for admission to the university they plan to join.
- Students awaiting admissions can also apply for the scholarship, the final award of which is subject to their securing admission and obtaining the relevant visa.
